Quote: Yes i am doing what the vet told me to do but worried he said it was not the Disease but an upper respatory .............. Im treating with anti biotics but still worried about my babies and wonder why the Jerk even showed up the Vet said Untreated the birds Die............................ Thank god i called asap and so far only lost 2 i also have the vaccine so my choice is to vaccinate or not to Vaccinate was gonna ask opinions here as i am reading that if i do all my birds should be done and if any Unvaccinated birds come in they could get the disease from birds that have been Vaccinated even if they have never come in contact with the Virus ................ So that means if my neighbors bought birds they could get ILV from my birds just because they where vaccinated . so the vaccine actually gives the birds the virus ?

Okay, so there are light, dark, and buff brahmas, right? Are those the only 3 varieties? Are there people working on developing anything else?

As we discussed HERE at LENGTH before....there are TWO types of ILT vaccine...........Live and Modified, the modified will not spread the virus to other birds. The live virus CAN. Thats the way I understand it. IF ILT is not a problem in your area of the country I personaly would not vaccinate.(My opinion FWIW). Stop blaming the guy. Deal with it, move on. You seem to enjoy a good crisis?

Those are the three varieties recognized by the APA. The ABA recognizes Light, Dark, Buff, Black and White in bantams. Black are sometimes seen at shows and whites never. There are other non recognized varieties that are fairly popular...I would say Partridge in large and bantam are the most common non-recognized variety that are shown fairly frequently. There are other varieties being developed/worked on. Our own Big Medicine has developed Silver Laced large fowl that are outstanding by all accounts. There is also buff laced that still needs work. There are others I'm sure. Many european countries have many other recognized varieties seldom seen in the USA.
