Brain-Eating Parasite?!!? EEEK!!

I do not go deeper then knee deep and only then if I have no cuts or open areas on my skin below the knees in ANY public water of any kind. I have a huge problem putting my body in water the other people are using as a bathroom, and swimming in w/ infections, and yeast, and god know's what. Not to mention the water that has wildlife in it dying, deficating, growing brain eating ameba etc....... And yes I have been told many times "they put chlorine in the water" to which I respond, they put chlorine in my toilet water and I don't stick my head in there either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lake in VA the article is talking about has a nuclear plant on it. The whole lake was created to cool the nuclear reactors. I think the parasite likes that water because it is warmed by the nuclear plant. I would not swim in there either. This is not the first time someone has been infected from that lake, but it is still rare.

It was found here in a home's water pipes (on city water) if I recall correctly. 2 very young children here died from it several years back. Very tragic.

Have you seen the video where killer whales beach themselves to catch seal pups? Sharks do that too, Redhen.

Funny you say that. I recently saw 4 ft long black tip sharks in 1 ft of water and beaching themselves chasing fish. They would have to FLOP to get back in to water deep enough to swim. I stayed out of the gulf the rest of that day.
