Brain farts in coop building

Even the pros do it - when the shed builder came to put up my coop, he realized they'd fabricated the ridge for the roof off of measurements for someone else's shed. So they had to get a new one made and come back to finish later.

They also had the door hinged on the wrong side (it would've banged into the run door if left as is). That at least was a quick fix, just flipped the door and flipped the hardware for the latch.

Woke up at 4:30 this morning with my mind racing over my current coop build. Somehow, in my sleep, I realized that when I ordered the custom cut steel roofing for my 6x8 coop I had ordered it for 5x8 coop.

I'm supposed to pick it up today.

Please, someone assure me that I'm not the only one whose brain let's them down like this.
No my friend I’m in the middle of a coop build myself, I sat down for about a week and drew everything out down to the 1/8 of an inch. Each board each stud etc.. well I wasn’t done building the frame when I realized i errored on my math. Since then that error has turned into drawing 99, part F, revision 12 or somewhere close to that lol.. over all it will work out and keep in mind we are not building a house just a chicken coop lol...

Too funny, I designed the coop I am currently building completely in Fusion 360.... the software updates versions automatically and it's on version 16.. I've started building, and I've already made changes to the plans since I started building, even though making the plans was more of a proof of concept plus making it simpler to figure out the BOM/budget :)

I did however, run into lots of "hmmm, maybe I shouldn't do that like this" situations while "building" it virtually, which has been helpful.

I had to keep telling myself when I was trying to pick out lumber last week that "it's just a chicken coop" because the quality of 2x4 at my local hardware store was abyssmal.

I'm just glad to hear I'm not the only one kept up at nights over a chicken coop build...!

I had my coop built about 8 years before I heard of BYC. *sigh* If I could do it over again, it would be very different! But ... it keeps the chooks warm and dry, and they lay eggs in it. So I reckon it's all good. 😉

In progress of building and I couldn't get 67" out of my head for some reason (probably a revised, revised again revision) even though I needed more and knew this looking at my paper. Needless to say, it resulted in some updated cuts.

Be assured!
