Hello all,
I have been talking chickens with my boyfriend since before Christmas! We moved into an old farmhouse on a few acres last summer and our roommate moved out shortly after we moved in. She had horses but nothing else.
Our landlord has given us the OK to turn an old "summer kitchen" that needs some repairs into a chicken coop! It needs a new roof and some good TLC but should be more than enough room for the flock!
I talked him into bringing home some chicks from TSC the last two weekends and have been taking care of them in the mudroom in our place in a home made brooder (our old dog kennel with cardboard lining for the walls so the kitty isn't to tempted) and they have been doing great so far!!
6 are bantams and 6 aren't I know the first 5 are probably Easter Eggers (Ameraucana was on the sign but I've been reading online enough to know better) the big yellow one is an Amber Link and the 6 bantams I have no idea, 5 I got from the discounted 1 week old bin, and the tiny little pale yellow one I got from the assorted bantam bin. I'm positive the second set of 6 I got are all bantams because they are almost less than half the size of the other 6, and should be the same age. I'm hoping for females!
I would love fresh eggys

and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on the new chicks! Good luck with them! You might want to post on the What Breed Or Gender Is This forum for help in iding them,
But I got it all cleared up already.
