Hello everyone. Brand new member here with plenty of questions. But first I'll answer some questions from the template to help introduce myself-
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We started with chickens a few years ago, kept losing them to predators. Finally cooped them up 24/7 until after the fair was over, and then gave them away. Now have 10 buff orpingtons about 15 weeks old, with a coop, a fenced area, and a dog that I have finally trained to protect the birds instead of chasing them!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
10 BO's, all pulletts
(3) What breeds do you have?
BO's
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Really looking forward to tasty, healthy eggs again, but overall enjoy watching them range in the backyard.
Glad you joined us! :frow

Glad to meet you, and welcome to BYC. I, too have chickens (not quite) in the city. I live in a town just south of Boston that is pretty densely settled. I have a fenced yard with 6 foot fencing on all sides. But I lost one of my chickens not too long ago to a hawk. So be careful! I was allowing them to free range, and checking periodically. But even if I am in the yard, I am not great at spotting hawks quickly enough. I count on wild bird alarm calls to help me out!

It sounds like you know how to do the electric fencing? I found the idea very intimidating. Just in case, here is an article about that, and another about improving predator protection generally.
