I'm going to have to second KsKingBee on this.

When Peggy was missing and I called around the humane society, feed stores, vets, etc., people would say "Oh, a lost peacock! How unusual!"
But the woman who found him was calling the SAME places and somehow it took many, many phone calls for someone to connect us together!
Please be persistent!

Those were pictures of an imprinted yearling, too young to have a train yet. This is one of our males before and after molting.

How far away would you expect that he came from? 1mile or less?

No way of knowing that. They can cover some serious ground and they fly very well. He could have come from right down the road or 25 miles away.

She lives very near the airport at RDU and he could have jumped a flight all the way from India too

A fellow that I bought two black shoulder chicks from this summer told me of a special pet peacock he had that disappeared a few years ago. It was his little buddy and always sat on his special spot on the porch railing, followed him about and liked neck rubs. Then about three or four years later the cock just showed up setting on the rail like it had never left. He had no idea where it had been or who had trapped it, only that it found its way home.

I had a beautiful four year old IBBS cock wander off with the wild turkeys when they passed through this last spring, I am still hoping that he will come back. Hopefully no one has him locked up.

Well, I afraid that my Mother-in-law might have a .410 gun for him since he was eating her Tomatoes. She shot 3 squirrels this weekend on her Pecan trees

hello, my peacock is in a nice 10'x10' cage now, but I noticed that for the first 3-4days he moved in there, he kept walking 3-4ft all in one side for next to the fence. He walked so much he made all the dirt in that 3-4ft.

Is that normal when they move to a new place? They walk all time from the daytime?

we thought that maybe he was looking for a way out, but he just walked the 3-4ft area.
thanks
gary
