Zombie Ethel has made an amazing comeback, she started eating solids 2 days ago, She is quite active now, not sitting and sleeping, but up and wandering about the house leaving normalpoops here and there. no hershey squirts.. her targeting sytems still coming back, its kinda like she had a bad eye or something. her balance is at around 80 percent now. she has been "perching" on the edge of her box. stil seems to have a depth perceptio problem, but it is repairing fast. She has started drinking from the dog dish, which is good. even clucking a bit too. Color coming back, still pink , not red but the pink is strong and her head wounds re healed, her ear is cleared up and the fuzz has grown back. Man oh man she must be one tough gal. Still I think she is going to be inside the house for a while, probly till spring. This is my first ever chickening experience. Have learned so much, what a suprise. Gonna build a newer better coop for em come nice weather. Mites is the new adventure is appears, but it seems that is not a real problem to deal with.. got a frozen egg today, may be from yesterday, I am finding that the coop does not need heat, just ventalation.

Were you able to narrow down what happened to her?
As for the mites, permetherin seems to be the go to recommendation. I used the powder version since it was cold when I thought we had a mite issue.

sorry forthe delayin replying... No real hard evidence of what actually happened. no repeats or tracks in the snow ... nothing. She is still living in my kitchen. Wattle and comb are looking good her colorisrosy pink. The one side of her head is still abit swelled, and she has a bit of a balance problem sometimes. her woumds have healed real good, sh is eating fine and drinking well, It has looked like her depth prception was out a bit but she has pretty much got her aim back. She is still pretty quiet, but makes noise for food or to say hello. Lets the puppy sniff her with no complaints. she likesto walk about in the afternoons. I suspect someinternal bruising or such in her head and neck are still yet to finish healing up. Her feather are lovely and she has her weight bak. She will be a house chicken till spring i suppose.. Wont really matter then because my roosters know all about the dog door and use it all the time lol. I guess whats another one. :)
