Break in your BATOR

I had similar with my lg but I didn't with my hova. I got the bator, adjusted it for a day, let it run another day at the right temp, added water and had the right humidity. Added eggs, took a half day to come back up to temp and it ran fine for 3 weeks. The only issue was I had it near a window and it would predictably slowly rise in the afternoon until I vented it by opening to turn eggs. I've run it pretty much constantly since June and it wasn't until the last hatch that it started to fluctuate. I think I wore the wafer out and I have another sitting in waiting already. The lg has been a nightmare since I got it. For right now it's running more predictably because of the wafer issue but it took over a week without eggs to get the temp set and then fine tuning the whole first hatch in it. I nearly lost some buttons to a humidity spike.

It took me 4 days to get my Hova set right. I figured out that it wasn't the bator that was getting broken in, but me. After all of the tinkering it kept a nice steady solid temp for all 3 weeks. I am now tweaking the temps in my big new home made bator, and I'm glad I am working out the issues now to get it right before putting eggs in it. My hova will be used for hatching, and though I just used it last month, I am going to set it up and fuss with it a couple of days before putting my eggs in it.

I think sometimes those nasty spikes/dips can happen even when you break in your bator, but playing with it beforehand gives you a feel for how much to turn the thermostat to get it right again.
