Breaking broody in 6 degree F. temperature

Deer no longer goes in the nesting boxes, none of them do, but she is picking her belly feathers out. I don’t know how long her belly has been bare but it seems like she pulls a ton of feathers out. I don’t see any bugs but I will try looking again tomorrow. Is this something that happens after going broody? She’s eating, drinking, out with the others. Sorry, she wouldn’t cooperate for the photos. Her belly is cool to the touch.

They pluck their bellies when they go broody. Not sure how long it'll take them to grow back in.

One broody behaviour that I noticed, they will get a blade of grass or hay, and toss it over their (usually right) shoulder.

As soon as I see that, I watch for the other signs.
Mine does this with the pine shavings after I take her off the nest and she’s walking away. I swear after she does it she looks me in the eyes like what you gonna do about it.
