breaking feathers, frazzle gene?

I have a frizzle bantam nn that is not quite a year old. Last fall he molted and it was awful. He never really got his feathers back. What did come back, he's pretty much lost. His wing feathers are quills, just little sticks, many broken in half. He has some fluff feathers on his thighs, back and top of his head. I have checked him for mites but he doesn't have any. His skin doesn't look bad. No bites or scabs. Could he have the frazzle gene? I fed him cat food when he was molting but it didn't seem to help. I cant post pictures, no camera. Just picture a naked chicken.

sounds just like my little frazzle hen shirley, a local 4-h girl ordered 3 frizzle from a hatchery , well she got 2 frizzle and 1 frazzle , she was the ugliest little thing i ever saw, i just had to have her , i just wanted to make sure she had a good home, she is now everybodies favorite . her wing feathers also look like quills , and right now her neck is naked. there are times when her feathers fill in nice (alittle extra curly) but she seems to loose her feathers easy and her wing feathers are always brittle and harder. the only way a can explain how she feels is my frizzle feel soft and fluffy and when you pick her up she feels well kinda chrunchy!

she can not fly at all ! just jumps , she sleeps in a basket with a nice soft blanket next to my silkies.

Sounds just like my Roadkill. He sleeps in a nest box at night, filled with shavings. And he also feels crunchy when I pick him up. He's second rooster in command, so he's not getting picked on. I've sat and watched them for several hours. When he beats his little stubby wings together, it makes a really funny sound. Poor guy!

I think my Sunny is a frazzle... He's having a lot of problems too now. He's almost 1 year old and has never looked worse. He's also waking backwards a lot... I'm feeding him tuna and putting poultry cell in food. I'm hoping it's just a bad molt and selenium deficiency. Hoping he can be helped out. Does he look like a frazzle to you guys?
