Luckily abdomen is normal and yeah makes sense. Shemay have heart murmur maybe. I have a hen rn that has cancer whom has the abdomen with fluids so I knowwhat to look forthat.

K. I'd say that points things back in potential infection land. I did have one hen with a failing heart- she needed regular draining, but didn't blow up in the same way one with reproductive issues might. It's like she had two pontoons, one on each side, and it was a really strange angle in order to get in and drain them. I could always tell when it was time to drain her again because her legs would get farther apart, she'd start to do open mouth breathing, and her comb would darken.
Could be congestive heart failure. Vets exam might be best right now.Have you checked her abdomen? You said her breathing gets worse when you pick her up. Not always- but enough times- this can point to fluid in the abdomen that are constricting her heart and lungs. When you pick them up, it further compresses them and makes breathing worse, same when they lay down. Check how the other hens' abdomens feel vs. how hers is.
Oops... I posted after you, but thanks for letting vet check her.Bad news everyone.... She's mostly healthy but they cant do anything from inbreeding defects.just gotta keep an eye on her!
