Hi all, hope everything is well. I'm planning on doing a better post for the rest of the flock later if needed but I'm hoping I could get some help with this bird in particular as it's being a bit of a pest to the other birds. I know it's probably too soon to be confident but this one is becoming a problem bird.
I'm not confident on its breed but I'm leaning towards buff Sussex. There are two other buff Sussex in the flock that are showing clear signs of black in their necks so they are fairly obvious however this bird has no black whatsoever in its neck, just wings and tail. The breeder sold 5 out of six birds as Sussex, but this one is just not obvious to me at all.
The other question is, if it is a buff Sussex is the lack of black in its neck an indicator of being a roo? It also has some pretty bad bullying behaviour, I've seen the other birds establishing their pecking order but this bird is just a d***. It loves to square off with other birds, stands pretty tall, has a pretty crazy look in its eye, yet is super flighty when we come near. It seems to behave worse the more we are around the brooder, like it knows we are the top so it's has to show its second to the other birds. One bird in particular cops it pretty bad. It also has always had a pretty large comb but now I'm worried it's getting a little too pink too soon. I'm yet to see hackles or sickles but the sooner we know the sooner I can hopefully give the rest of the flock some relief from this bully.
Thanks
in advance.
