Breed and Gender Thread, anyone ask!

They have a multiple generation recipe they use that they aren't going to just give away and you aren't going to replicate by sexlink x sexlink. You will get a bird here and there that superficially resembles him but you'll also get plenty that are mostly white. And, if you start with hatchery links, they've been selected for laying traits and feed efficiency, not large size. So, you'd really do better starting with quality duals if you want to end up with duals.

Creating a consistent look and performance in the offspring is where the effort comes in and why they put their ® on it.
I get it, I know some good meat quality ISA Browns, which are red sexlinks. I want to get close. I know I can't get it perfect

my hen and rooster are huge! rooster weighs around 12 pounds and the hen around 8 0r 9 lb

Both look mixed. Where did you get them? It's possible the seller has a Wyandotte rooster and an assortment of hens.

We got them from a local feed store. Yes, they did have a batch of mixed breed chicks so anything is possible, but we pulled these out of the SLW pen. If I recall there was another sign over the same pen for another black and white breed that started with an "m" but I understood from the girl that was helping us that these were SLW so I didn't pay much attention. Guess it will be a fun surprise!
