Breed and gender?

I'm pretty sure it's a pullet. The person who said cockerel probably did so because of the slight pink tinge in the comb. My girls "blush" like that all the time if they get excited or run around a lot.

Agree with most of the above, but I'd guess your barred rock to be a pullet.

It's a girl. Mine 'blushed' at the base of the comb and in their waddles all the time. As long as the comb doesn't grow and turn bright red, it's a girl
