Mystery Chick from Meyer
Hatched 3/13/17

Any clues? Feathered feet. Cochin maybe?

On the left here. Seems like pullet to me, but I am not that experienced at this.
Thanks for any help.

Doesn't look like a Cochin. Did you order hatching eggs? Could be a golden cuckoo maran, but I'm unsure if they have feathered legs. It is a pullet.

I think you're right. Meyer has clean and feathered legged golden cuckoo Marans. It's definitely not a Cochin, not with those white legs. It is a pullet. You may want to check that green leg band. It looks a little tight.

Thank you. That's helpful. All the gold cuckoo maran chick photos I've seen are pretty dark. This is what it looked like at 5 days old.

And, thanks, I will take that band off now.

Looks a lot like my Bielefelder hen, 7 weeks in this pic. She's taller and thinner looking than my other chicks and has the same sort of markings on her back as yours with more brown on the head and more grey on the body.

hmm... based on the other breeds at the farm then my next best guess is partridge brahma, or still bielefelder but mixed with something else so it's not pure... interesting... I'll have to send pics when she's a bit older to the farmer/breeder and see what he has to say since he guarantees the sex and breed, as long as she lays I'll probably keep her either way, fairly certain she is in fact a she and she is very good with the smaller chicks and everyone gets along well in my flock, thanks!

Not a Brahma mix. The pea comb of the Brahma is dominant.
