Hey all,

I know this is a long shot but I’m hoping some of you lovely folks can help me.

I lost my favorite chicken this past Memorial Day to a fox. It has really devastated me, as she was so special to me.

I know there won’t be another chicken just like her, but I’d like to get a few more of her ‘breed’.

Here in lies the issue. She was purchased from Hoover’s back in 2020 as a part of the egg color variety pack. I’d assumed she was just a standard Easter egger. So imagine my surprise when their listed Easter egger breed looks nothing like her, and also isn’t even a breed you can get with the egg color variety pack????

I’ve narrowed my guess down to either their Americana or the Prairie bluebell egger. I know these are all Easter egger mixed breeds and there’s no guarantee any of them will even look remotely similar. Maybe this is futile even asking but I don’t want to give up yet.

So I guess any thoughts or help in what might be my best shot would be appreciated.

Apple (my favorite) and her sister Moose both laid greenish blue eggs. Moose’s were a bit more blue, Apple’s a bit more green. I’ve added a couple pics of those fwiw. The last one shows Apple’s eggs compared with some mallard eggs I had a few months ago. Her sister Moose was very similar in color though much stockier in build. I didnt add pics of her except the one with them both as chicks but I can if that helps.

I absolutely LOVE that you've got a picture of a chicken, happily perching on the counter in what appears to be your kitchen. A true chicken lover!
Yes! Apple would chill anywhere I put her in the house. She’d just hang out and wait for me and occasionally talk softly to herself. We discovered this when I brought her inside a few times to treat her for bumblefoot. She was a really special bird.

Sorry about your loss! :hugs EE colors can vary, I have a few EE and they all look different.
Yeah, I had an EE that was orange! Another grey one, one that had a black head and a gold beak, a white one with copper marks, etc. so many colors, love them!
