Breed ID

Sorry hah! Ameracauna is the same as Easter Egger. It's a mutt. Ameraucana, on the other hand, is a pure breed.

Sorry for the confusion.
It’s all confusing. I’m the worst breed id person ever. Trying to learn - but if you need to know what a sex link is I’m your girl.... I keep it simple 😂

To be fair, I am absolute garbage at identifying most breeds other than a few bantams...

If you’re trying to say Easter egger, just say Easter egger. It’s a lot less confusing that way.
I'm trying to say Easter egger, yes. But I was trying to explain that Ameracauna and easter egger were the same thing, so saying easter egger wouldn't help.

Oh cool! Did the white spots go away once it feathered out?
Yes! Red breeds often get some wonky wing feathers at first, light brown/white feathers that are lost the next molt! I believe Red Orpingtons are bit different genetically versus RIRs, but my pullet Mabel feathered out partridge then switched to red. It just proves you never really know if a chicken will be red until it's 2nd or 3rd feather set!

It also shows why breed ID is best done later- when their adult feathering is in.
