WOW it's unanimous! No kidding Easter Egger, they were marked Orpington at Tractor Supply. the hen does lay pretty blue eggs. Thanks for the help guys!

Ok so they are Easter Eggers. What does Easter Egger mean? Is there a specific breed? Are they Ameraucanas, or something else and how can you tell? Or is Easter Egger like a mutt that lays blue eggs?

They are a mutt that lays blue/green eggs.

Easter Eggers is a term for any chicken that lays or carries a colored egg laying gene. So yes, they are mutts, but some hatcheries breed EEs to look or lay a certain way so they may have a different name (such as Prairie Bluebells, Olive Eggers, Favaucauna, etc., etc., etc.) Most Easter Eggers have Ameraucana blood in their heritage (which is why many have beards and pea combs), but they can also be based off Legbars. It's almost impossible to tell what breed(s) went into a bird .
