Breed stereotypes!

Does anyone wanna share any general observations or generalizations about the typical common breeds we all know and love I.e: Barred rocks, Rhode Island reds, buff Orpington, white leghorn, Polish, Silkie ect…
You mean like RIR's are mean, Buff's are nice, Barred Rock both, Polish are funny, Silkie's are to fragile for me, not trying Leghorn's because I want for sure nice chicken's. It's not a stereotype, just my experience/opinion. :p

My Barred Rocks are fierce mothers (in the good way).

My RIR hens are standoffish, I've had one really bad RIR roo and one really super sweet and cuddly Roo.

The one Buff Orpington we got was love-drunk crazy over the ladies and went to great leaps and bounds to fight the other Roos and get into the Hen's coop 😂.

And my Silkies are dumber than a box of rocks.

He's not *quite* a year old and no rooster every comes with a guarantee, but Ludwig the Black Langshan is living up to the "gentle giant" reputation of that breed.

The other day I was working in the coop and turned around to find him right behind me -- a suspicious circumstance for many roosters. But he was just standing there with no indication of any aggression -- apparently wondering what I might be doing and if I had food.

Salmon Faverolle: most chill birds. Very laid back. They get bullied bc they take ALL the poor treatment. We’ve had SF from 3 different sources/lines. But all were the same. I love their look, but they can’t hold their own in our mixed flock, so we have gotten rid of them all.

Similar to @3KillerBs we have a Black Langshan rooster -1.5 years old. He is the same: he is not aggressive to us and is good to the girls.

Other than that, we’ve had variable personalities -particularly from EEs as they range from highly skittish to very chill to everywhere in between. The BR are good all around, but have a tendency to be bullies to younger birds (one or two per batch we’ve had), but not to the laying birds.
