I was told this is a golden cuckoo marans but I honestly don’t know what to think. She has some gold around her neck but very little. She is 24 weeks old and still not laying which I know is common in marans but her waddles and her comb are very small. She does not like being handled, very skittish and quiet. Never heard a noise out of her. I’ve had her since she was 3 weeks old. Easter Egger in the background. Thoughts ?

Could she be an easter egger too just with no beard? If she has a peacomb thatd be my guess 🤟
Well she was a Craigslist buy. I got her and two Roos but only found that out 5 weeks later. The Roos looked like true Marans. One was a full cuckoo marans and the other a golden cuckoo marans. I’ll have to look back in my photos of them before I had to get rid of them. Can’t have Roos where I am. I’m anxiously awaiting that first egg because I wanted the marans for those dark chocolate eggs! Thanks for the reply

They’re olive eggers (marans x Easter egger mixes). The cockerels were not marans.
Why do you say there are not marans? And how do you know it’s and olive egger without an egg? I’ll definitely keep updated once I get that first egg but at this rate it may be spring time. I’m new to this all and would like to know how I can prevent a mistake like this again. This is when I first got them at 3 weeks.

Two of them have pea combs. Marans have single combs. The other cockerel isn’t pure for color, so is very likely a mix too.
I say they’re olive eggers because they’re definitely marans mixes, and olive eggers are the most common marans mix. They also have pea combs, which are typical for olive eggers.
