Gosh, Tay, that`s an interresting request for breeding pen ideas with a walkway between the pens. You didn`t mention where you are located, or the type of weather you have. I`m in mid-western GA and my weather is pretty mild for the most part, although the winters seem to be getting colder, you know, with all this "global warming and all.
Anyway, I just moved here from south FL about 6 years ago and my birds have been here since the summer of 07. The breeding numbers have increased to the point of needing new pens. I don`t need a "coop", just a secure pen and a windbreak in winter. My idea for multiple pens is chain link panels, 6` high and 10` long, using 3 panels constructed in a pie shape, with a gate section on the outside panel. The first pen would use 3 panels with consecutive pens only needing 2, including 1 gate panel. These would eventually form sort of a wheel shaped compound of 6 pens, all joined in the middle with a common hub, so to speak. Since my fowl are oriental gamefowl, the need for seperation is met by a 2` high X 10` long piece of metal roofing along the partitions, thereby preventing fights between roosters in ajoining pens. A common roof over at least half of each pen will be needed and I`m working on that. The windbreak, for winter probably will consist of a blue tarp attached to 3 sides, with access points.
Dunno if this gives you any ideas, but it will be similar to the runs in juliette`s second pic, but made of easy to assemble chain link panels. Good luck with your plans, I would be interrested in the finished pics........Pop
