Hello to everyone!
I need as many peoples opinions as I can get! My local farm has lots of free range chickens, the chickens are always to be found in there own little groups. There is a group of 2 bantam cockerals and 6 old english game bantam hens that spend there days together around the farm. I have found someone who will incubate eggs for me and keep the cockerals that hatch, as I only want 4-5 bantam hens for my garden.
My Question is will the chicks resemble there mothers if they are female? Im going to ask the farm if for a fee they will enclose the group seperately over night for a 2-3 nights so that the eggs collected will definitely be from the hens i like. Also there are lots of sized cockerals around the farm and i would imagine they may only occasionally mate with the hens, the hens are very hard for most cockerals to catch in the big fields!, does anyone have advice for me about what the chicks will turn out like?
If i didnt like the types and colours of the bantams so much i would go to a breeder but ive never been someone simple!
Any advice welcomed.
Dean Alex.
