I have a pair of blue runners that I incubated eggs from twice. Both times, the ducklings appear to be blue. Which is strange because I thought breeding 2 blues, would result in 50% blue, 25% silver and 25% black. Maybe they are too young to show their color yet?I love them and their color no matter what, but trying to understand this blue genetic thing. I believe your supposed to breed a silver to a black to get a blue or a blue to a black? Pic 4 is of mom and her 3 babies. Ignore the mess, we were redoing their pond when I took these pictures. Mom is first in line and the 3 behind her are a few of her 6 week old ducklings. The first duckling is going to be a gorgeous representation of the breed, i think. The first pic is of Drama Queen. She's mom. The third pic is of dad. His name is Franklin. And 2nd pic is a close up of the ducklings. The Cayuga's belong to Olive, my hen. Thanks in advance and hopefully this post isn't too confusing.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
