Hello Dan, I am very honoured with the aid and friendship which I may receive from you. I learned a lot of you about the Buffs and so I can do things to improve my Buff Leghorn Bantams.
The baby chicks look great, especial the crossing with the Buff Dutch Bantams. For me you are the expert. Thanks Dan. Arie van Bijsterveldt

I had some Buff Orps with the Black in their tails. It was when they were under or around 6 months old. ALL now have an ALL Buff color. I'd hold off the cullin cause of that trait till you've seen them in a new batch of feathers

I croosed in red leghorn male with my buff females that were on the light buff side and the females were nice dark buff and the undercolor was as dark as the surface color but on some of my offspring I have got some white and a little black in a tail feather or two but the feather shaft is a dark buff the white and black will breed out in 2 to 3 generations as long as your breeding male is pure buff.
what did you cross them with to get the dark wing bows.
sometimes people will use light brown or dark brown leghorns to improve size type and color and you can do it this way but it takes a long time from a cross like this you want to use only the females not the males.
the females throw the size and type and the male bird transmit the color to the offspring the best ideal color is to have the birds mated up closly in color size and type but sometimes it is not always possible you want to use the males from the cross when the time is right and even breed together the offspring but always have your best buff colored bird to head the breeding pen.
the white and the black will come out when a cross of is made to the buff sometimes.
you can take a white female and breed it to red or buff then you have to work on getting out the white and sometimes white birds will throw a lot of black in the tail some things just take time get and read the fred jeffrey book called (Bantam Chickens) it will explain a lot on the genetics of poultry or Dan Honour might be able to explain it more.
