Well I have to say I am guilty in part of steering Tom off the path a bit,but it has been wonderful talking about buff color and crossing buff etc. If it were not for me asking Tom to get me a few Buff Leghorns off Doug Cauthorn in his state,I do not think Tom would have Buff Leghorns now.I have worked with Tom on the Buff Minorca project from the beginning.I am also guilty of talking him into the Black Minorca /Buff Minorca cross.I am also guilty of getting him into my Lavender (self blue)Minorca project, which in turn got him into Lavender bantam Cochins.Sorry Tom. Well Tom I really really enjoy all our emails and visits and I hope you do to

h yes we talk about Buff Cochins,Buff Rock bantams,Buff Columbian Cochin bantams,Silver Laced Cochin largefowl, etc. etc. Lucky for me I do not have the room for all the varieties that Tom does, but I still like them. Dan Honour
Probably true about the Buff Leghorns. I hadn't planned on getting into Buff Leghorns, but I have a weakness for any Buff variety for the most part. Dan and I have some good conversations at shows and via emails and I was more than happy to help Dan out with his Lavender Minorca project. I sincerely appreciate Dan's input to my proposed breeding match ups, and it's great to have a friend who shares my affinity for the Buff variety. There are days when I think about getting out of one or more of the varieties that I am working with but I don't do it because I am not sure where a couple of the varieties would wind up with one less person working with them. Golden Laced Cochins is a perfect example. I am on my third year working with them, and I think I have made some significant progress this year using birds from a cross I did last year and trusting in the genetics to produce results to support my approach.
However, this is a thread on the Buff color so.....Here are a couple pics of the oldes two chicks from a Buff X White Rock cross. I'll take some more photos of the younger chicks once they get a bit older. The ckl is starting to feather in with what looks a bit like Columbian markings although he's very creamy in base color with slate undercolor. The pullet
has slate undercolor as well. I'll post some Minorca pics in a separate post later.
