Anyone have a breeding calculator for guinea fowl? I've seen them for chickens and peafowl, but there's generally less info on guinea. My son started hatching guinea eggs this summer and we love the lavendars. So when he hatches a bunch, he sells the others and keeps the ones we like the looks of. We ended up with a few lavendar pieds, but know because we started with "assorted guineas" from a hatchery it will always be impossible to breed true, but are interested in seeing how close we can get to certain colors breeding backwards. Also, chickens have relatively few inbreeding problems as long as you select prime examples for breeding -- anyone know if guinea fowl are the same way or do you have to introduce new gene stock every generation?

There are a few guinea fowl color calculators around. None of the ones that I have seen are accurate in their predictions. The people that have made the guinea fowl calculators do not know enough about guinea fowl color genetics but then none of us really know fully how the color genes work.

If you have specific questions, I will do my best to answer them.
