Breeding Delawares to the Standard of Perfection

In May I purchased a Delaware Roo and 3 pullets from Luanne to add to my Dele flock. They were 19 weeks at the time and I placed them in a quarantine pen for a while before I integrated them. Two of the pullets started laying the first week I brought them home. They are awesome birds and while the Roo looks like he's going to be massive he's very calm as opposed to the the last two Dele Roos that I had which were hatchery birds and too aggressive to have around my grandkids. In my dealings with Luanne I found her to be a straight shooter and very easy to work with. I highly recommend Eight Acres Farm.

Agreed.

We got our New Hampshire chicks from Luanne this spring, and could not be happier. The chicks are doing great, and she was wonderful to work with. She has some really nice flocks and manages them well.

I have never met Luanne but all I have heard is positive,
Being in business for 35 years I have always said your best salesman is your customer.
Glad we got her reputation corrected.

I never meant to hurt her reputation and hopefully haven't. When she didn't reply I just assumed that like all of us she hadn't had a chance to reply. As it turned out she replied the same day, but I had a typo in the email address I had sent on the message app on her site and I never received it .... completely my fault. We have been messaging back and forth since yesterday and she seems like a great person and I look forward to adding some of her great looking Delawares into my stock soon.

Quick question .... I have a Delaware cockerel about six to seven weeks old and his back feathers always stay completely ruffled up like a Frizzle. Has anyone ever seen this before? Is it common? Do you think he will grow out of it? As soon as I get home I'll post a pic ... if I can get to the coop in between the rain storms.

I didn't say that correctly and didn't mean to imply something negative. I am a two finger typer and sometimes my mind tries to get ahead of my fingers.

If the feathers do correct it will be after first molt. Cant remember that with mine.
Luann has a nice line of Dels I am sure you will like them.

Here's a couple shots of my two pullets from Chickcharney Farm out of NC. They are about 8 weeks old and seem to be healthy and happy. Going to try to weigh tonight and will post some updates. At first I thought I had a cockerel and a pullet, but now I'm pretty sure they are both pullets. These two girls have some nice big heads on them. They are both over colored on their knecks and backs but we'll see how they turn out. Foreseeing any major problems they will be in the breeding program next year.

I believe that cockerel in the background is B4 -- I think I have four cockerels, these are all from a local breeder, they're about a week behind these two pullets, but catching up on size -- quickly.

Haven't had a chance to weigh recently, had to go out of town for my job and just returned yesterday. I notice your birds have those nice big heads as well. I'll try to get some weights posted either today or tomorrow ... I have a 4 week old litter of rabbits I need to weigh as well.

Ok. I forgot to wash their feet before taking pic, they're all muddy.

I just had put top soil to prevent flooding in the low areas and it rain so got all muddy.!

I know what you mean. I have my grow out run filled with sand, but we got a pretty good bit of rain last week and my chics are dirty as well. How did you make out down there with the tropical storm?? Hope all is well ... you guys probably appreciated the rain. We thought we would of gotten more off of it then we did ... but only got a few sprinkles and a little bit of wind gusts.
