Breeding Ducks

Sure is a drake! About our Q with the eggs...I am not sure a cayuga duck it the kind that would sit. Incubation should be pretty easy. The book stories guide to raising ducks gives a great explanation of how to incubate ducks. Give your drake a chance and if possible get some more females.

@MrsA82 personally, I would do anything to try to keep a drake. I know it works with our set up, but only you can make that decision! You mentioned that he hasn't been aggressive for awhile. I would try to get another hen for him to see if that helps keep the aggression down permanently. We have 2 hens for our 1 drake, and he is more than content with just the one, honestly. I completely understand the argument to have 2+ per drake though!

So they have their own coop, it's just that there is a shared common area and while we have an option for totally splitting the common area we are a ways off from being able to do so, maybe up to a year. We would have to tear down and rebuild their coop to make room for two more birds. I don't remember the square feet per bird for ducks but I'd guess at MOST I could add one more female duck in their current coop size.
Pictures of your set up and many here can help you figure out a better solution..
