breeding EE x silkie mix with EE muffs and no crest?

i found this article about someone getting a very cute mix with the shape and muffs/beard of an EE but she was silked and had no crest:

it looks like they aren’t selling anymore, is it possible to get these traits from a silkie and an EE or would the EE need to carry the silk gene as well? tyia

The gene for silkie feathers is recessive, so a chick can only have silkie feathers if both parents had the gene. So yes, you'd need the EE to carry the gene as well.
