Would you rather have a pause or rewind button for your life?

Rewind.

If I could go back to that sad, lonely, depressed 22 year old in an empty apartment on Christmas Day when her heat went out and her landlord said "nobody was available to fix it because it's Christmas Day, but we'll get someone out as soon as we can," and she couldn't go home to family because they were three hours away and she had worked Christmas Eve and had to work early the day after...

I'd give her a hug and tell her, "Yes, you will get through this. You will get through worse days than this. Right now, your life is full of pain and sadness, but things will get better. You will gain a wisdom that books and professors cannot teach you, a strength that comes from being crushed to breaking. There is love and laughter, joy and beauty in your future. It is worth the pain you feel right now to get there."

Rewind, definitely! For those moments when I made an impulsive comment that could've been more tactful or thoughtful.

Or maybe pause to give me a moment to think, before responding.

That’s a good idea! They mentioned in group pausing it during like a heated argument for example so you could gather your thoughts, take a breath, etc. before responding which I thought was brilliant lol

But the rewind is definitely very useful because there’s a lot of impulsive things I’ve said or done that I regret.

I’d treat my mom better too, for one. And take her to see the dang snowy owls she kept asking me to take her to go see on the beach. 😭💔
