BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I thought you guys would appreciate this. The other day I went out with the pans to distribute some of the soaked cat food to each coop/group. The birds now recognize those Fortex pans, and were going nuts in anticipation. For the laying group, one of them flew up at my chest (through the paddock fence) she was so excited. When I went in, another one flew up in the air to try to get to the pan in my hands - she apparently couldn't wait until I actually put it down. Never seen anything like it... They just went berserk. I thought that were going to eat ME!

LOL! I can totally envision that! Well, at least you know they appreciate the treats you give them.

Well, I knew *something* had to be up, and I was right!! I was chaperoned (and I say that because my every move was apparently reported back to home base) out to breakfast this morning by a friend who spontaneously came up from Orlando to visit us, and I got home to.....

A new coop specifically for my "projects"!! 12ft long x3feet wide x 5.5feet tall. Right now, I'm keeping all of the Sulms in there while they finish growing out, and I'm stoked! I'm more than likely going to use this as a breeding pen for my broiler NNs. <3 I'm over the moooooooooon!

The Sulmtalers are ELATED!

"You only love me for my cat food...."

I know, I have to count my fingers and toes coming out of the coop. The Naked Neck girls will fly at the side of the coop and try to hang on to the HW cloth of the door if I don't get it open fast enough...

Update on growth tracking. It is proving to be fun, my 2 girls love having the baby chicks inside for a little while in the evenings. They like to cuddle their food....

Cook book for tough chicken, why my littlest brother thought I needed this for a Christmas present IDK? Even wrote in it, "Les, sounded like your kind of recipe book : )"
It's actually a great recipe book with a wonderful story in the beginning, there is a few short chapters of this before the recipes begin, authors friend usually only has laying hens was sent 50 cockerels from a hatchery by mistake, found them to be tough, stringy, chewy, so she set out to make some edible recipes, 50 of them, right down to the comb and wattles...
Link to Amazon on the book, http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LE...8259143X/RK=0/RS=5mjRVVGsmdvVofGNu_bGA_NX8yI-

Edited to add,
