BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I had Chinese tilapia from the grocery store once. While I hate to waste food, it was so bad that I threw there rest of the frozen package out. I've scrutinized packages very carefully ever since...

Hey - it's Day 7 of my first attempt at hatching - I set Dumbledore's girls' eggs when he got injured. I candled today - 15/16 are developing, moving, and look great! (One looks like it was infertile.)

Yay!!!

Looks good for day 7!

Thanks everyone! It's my first time, so I was sorta squee-ing like a little girl... (Part of me was somehow convinced that none of them would develop - maybe I was trying not to get my hopes up!)

I have some shipped eggs on the way, and I know that they are a different matter with regard to hatching success, so it's nice to have this batch developing from my own eggs to know what things are "supposed" to look like. Shipped eggs will be put in a second incubator, and will be about 1-1.5 weeks behind these ones (if they ever get here! Obsessively checking tracking info...)

FYI and if anyone really cares, I've been stuck in the house for two days. Not really complaining because the heat feels good on my old arthritic bones but the SKY-HIGH humidity works to negate any good from the heat.

To keep this chicken-related, I'm having two NNs butchered for dinner for the weekend and I'll be the cook. I really wouldn't trust Ariel with these older cocks and she's having her 'beau' over for dinner on Sunday. It's clear she really likes him because she's going to church (Mass) with his family. I think she's planning to smuggle him home with her.
