BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

The east coast is a MAJOR fly-way for migratory birds and should have been hit hard if that theory were to hold water. I won't bother with a google search but I think birds come from as far as beyond the Arctic Circle, down through various parts of Canada...
You'd think that would be the case so it opens up more questions. There are multiple flyways across the entire United States - so why hasn't it hit every single flyway and in larger numbers? And it's interesting that this public article has finally mentioned that people are arguing with each other over the causes of this, because for a while it was mostly being kept quiet that veterinarians were disputing what the USDA/CDC folks were claiming was the cause.

I also posted this in an APA group and the responses so far are that waterfowl ARE the culprit because it happened in flyways, and that backyard flocks did have it but it was just not reported or misdiagnosed. What I am finding when there are conversations like this going on in groups, is that a good number of APA members believe pretty much everything that comes from the government while people who are more interested in the utility uses of poultry tend to not take everything the government says at face value.

.....that's what mystifies me the most, really. How can anyone in their right minds trust anything the government says at face value? Have they learned nothing over the centuries about how the government clearly manipulates each and every situation, statistic, outcome and media coverage?

The leopard has spots and they don't change, people. That fella walking down the road nekked isn't sporting new, mysterious clothing that only smart people can see.... the emperor is clearly naked and any little kid can see it.

RIGHT?! More and more I am so dissatisfied with what is happening and with the number of people that still think the government is the bee's knees. Too many of the APA folk think that government interference is a good thing - so long as they are allowed to have their poultry shows. More and more I'm seeing small farmers here in my state being harassed by both the state and federal government to satisfy an agenda that Big Money companies are throwing at politicians/regulators. It's no wonder these people are so stupid - they've got anoxic brain injury from having their heads stuffed up their colons for so long.

great idea,! and what's the name of these?

I just use colored zip ties and have there names in my chickens folder and age when they started laying diseases they have had when I trimmed my roosters Spurs last stuff like that and what ever bird u need to look for I
Take ur folder look for the birds leg band color and go down to that colored zip tie and see what ever info u need to know about her or him

But you would have to keep changing the zip tie right. Is that how you attach the numbers?
Yes, as they out grow the zip you cut it off and re-use the numbers on a larger zip. I have up to 100 chicks with different genetics all running together. It keeps things straight.

I only have to change hem if they go and fall off or something but they are hard to get off but I have one bird that looses hers all the time I don't know what she does to it that the others don't but she loses it almost every two weeks but now she don't seem to loose them anymore I don't have or use the numbers I think that would feel quiet uncomfortable for the birds I only have the leg bands on my birds so if one runs off then someone finds it then then know that it was someone's pet and I can tell then my self by seeing the band on its leg in my neighbors flock or something because the neighbors chickens really seem to roam around
