BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

But you still have to replace them every so often. I think I'll stick with my $.08 wing bands.
Wing bands are great for adults, but cannot be used on newborns. My Cornish have super sized wing muscles so I am not sure the wing bands will fit well. The metal leg bands the Vet had for my NPIP certification did not fit around my Cock bird's legs either. So for me I'll stick with my track-able from birth to adult system.

But they can be put on week olds, so I still save a lot of money.(and as far as I know it is possible to apply to new hatchlings)
But I'm not trying to be arguementative so I'll shut up on this subject now.

I'll be talking to you about the numerals and other things by tomorrow morning...your time.

I'd rather let you make $.99 cent's profit than wasting my time looking for them...and still have to pay shipping from where ever you get them...At MY age, I'd rather enjoy life than 'squinting' at some of the text on these sites...

Yes they can be put on day olds.. as for wing size, they are routinely attached to day old peachicks.

So I finally decided to introduce my NN/Australorp cross, Pepper, to what was supposed to be "his" flock....Australorp and Barred Rock hens. I'd planned to breed him back to those girls since they're my best layers, but Pepper obviously had other plans. He shunned those girls in favor of my bantams & frizzles. He weighs over 7 lbs at 22 weeks, and selects the smallest girls for his mates. Ugh! Unfortunately he's proving to be as high-strung as his father and is behaving far more aggressively with me than I can tolerate. If he keeps trying to bite me every chance he gets I'm inviting him to dinner.

OMG, the Speckled Sussex just turned 20 weeks and I found an egg in their coop today when doing a head check before bed. (Once again, I'm a bad Mommy and no nest box, though they HAD been given oyster shell for several weeks, as I learned after what happened with the NNs). I'll be unblocking the teeny tiny nest boxes in the teeny tiny kit coop they're in tomorrow morning. I'm taking the week off of work, feverishly trying to finish their tractor coop they will share with Tank.

I now officially have too many eggs. It's like zucchini - I'm at work: "Do you want any eggs?" "How would you like a dozen eggs?" Making and freezing a bunch of quiche this week... I'm targeting giving eggs to folks who will be looking after my garden and chickens when I'm out of town. Barter is a lovely thing. If I can arrange to barter for the raw cow milk I buy, THAT would be a real score...

One of the SS got in with Tank today, and she squatted and they mated successfully. Guess they couldn't wait until the wedding night... She didn't want to go to bed in her own coop tonight - I think she was looking for him. Soon, soon....
