BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

X2 @Ifish I have very few pics on my phone cause most turn out crappy. They just don't ever want to sit still when you want them to. We have a good big digital camera but we only use it for special occasions. It eats batteries up, have to use the best expensive lithium batteries, we tried the best rechargables but they just don't cut it.

So I have been trying to get some good pics of the flock. I have read posts about how hard it was to capture that good picture, but kinda shrugged it off, and thought "can't be that hard."

Well, it is that hard, and I think I need a new camera with faster capture speeds.

I took a few pics yesterday evening but I'm having problems getting them to load...I'll wait for help! They will be awful pics but since I took 'em, I wan't 'em posted!

This is one of the better contributions of this thread.

Hi George. I don't remember Dead Rabbit ever visiting the PRODUCTION thread and was surprised when he suddenly appeared with such force. I don't remember seeing him post ANYWHERE!

If I had known you were aware of him, I might not have made the post that only slowed him down a bit. Another point...he DOES NOT know all he claims about dogs. I took an hour, made two phone calls, getting hold of the breeder(accidental) she says. He is what was told and all one really needs to do is look at the tail to recognize the typical tail set of the Rott.

None the less, you may or may not be aware that the thread has LOTS of enemies who would love to shut it down. For all I know, Mr. Rabbit was a 5'th Columnist, sent to stir up sheit about chicken fighting and he made bells go off in my head.

He's certainly welcome to the thread any time but I would hate to be censured for any reason...

I have trouble seeing why the thread would have enemies. There are tiffs here and there, but overall, it's a bunch of information and stories of what has and hasn't worked as hoped/planned.

To my eye, your daughter's dog is certainly part Rottie - he has the happy-Rottie face and expression. While my current dog is a Pit Bull, my previous three dogs were (spoiled ROTTen) house Rotties, and our next dog will be a Rottie as well. I even took my second Rottie to a few UKC shows, and she did pretty decently considering she was a still-growing pup. Rottweilers are wonderful dogs usually (there are unfortunately bad apples, and those type of people tend to breed bad dogs) although my next one will come from health-screened stock. My last girl died of aggressive osteosarcoma and that was heartbreaking to watch. DR admits to being a Pit man, but I am a Rottie Woman. You know I recognized him as half Rottie as soon as I saw him. I'd happily adopt him in a heartbeat, too!

OK...I'll put it another way...I HAVE ENEMIES. When I first sighed up here, I pumped heads with some of the more powerful folks. My contention that chickens were here to be used as food for a very long time and those who show birds for a hobby came to the dance quite late.

After being put in the 'penalty box' a few times, I decided to simply start this Production thread. I don't even discourage SOP folks who wish to post here...many of them do provide some very important information but I can't stand back and have someone tell me that I'm wrong for crossing breeds for my own purposes. It would be one thing if I tried to sell birds that are cross-bred as a pure breed but I don't....I I rarely even sell chickens, unless we're doing a
wholesale clearance' as has happened a couple times in the past year...

So...there you have it!!

I'm convinced that all chickens are camera shy and do their best to look as bad as possible as soon as you try to photograph them.

Right there is the reason why I refrain from joining a sikie thread. Those who raise silkies as second children might not care much for my breeding plans of developing a heavier meatier silkie fibro meat breed :)
There was a few threads discussing giant silkies, people wanting them but I didn't find anyone that actually found any, threads had few posts and were old and dead.
