BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

See? Your French is excellent.
I did have 7 years of French in high school and college but have had NO real use for it and have forgotten MORE than I ever learned. lolol I've a thousand times that I had opted for Spanish...That I could have had a use for...

Never heard of anyone canning baked beans, always had them fresh baked. Why not though, you can buy them canned. That's a great idea cyborg, have some fairly easy without the work, when you want.

I agree...The ones that are made at home/canned would almost certainly be better than what comes from the market and the convenience of simply opening a jar without a trip to town or whatever has added value.  We've never canned 'dry' beans but another advantage could be that you plop a few nice fatty chunks of pork in every (quart for my family) jar, rather than that little blip of pork found in most store brands.  Not even certain what they use is actually pork for that matter.

Back in the day, they used salt pork, basically lard jerky, a semi dry salt cured chunk of lard with a strip of meat. What passes for salt pork these days is really just bacon.

For "pantry stash", beans are hard to beat. I have cases of various types of canned beans, as well as buckets of dry beans. The canned beans are ready to eat without cooking, 'cuz you really dont want to do a lot of cooking here in the summertime. They are relatively cheap still, and very nutritious.

The March hatch was very good - 12 Meaties and 24 Feyd chicks (not all full Wyandotte, as Penny the black sex link contributed).

Started caponizing the January hatch (Azar x the Pretties) and out of 4 prepped for this morning, I have one maybe capon, one known slip ... and two escapees. This is quite the quick and agile batch of cockerels!
