BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

So my ducklings will be 3 weeks old in two days and the biggest three are 1.8, 1.7 and 1.6lbs, these are certain Pekin X Swedish crosses. The next three are possibly all Swedes, I know for sure two are and they weigh 1lb, 14oz and 14oz.

I wonder how many backyard flocks will be culled in an effort to protect the commercial industry.

my mix cx ( lizard ) pullet laid her first egg today

she is almost 18 weeks
unfortunately it was a long skinny fertile double yolked

I hope this isn't a trend

well she has laid 5 eggs in a week.. 3 are double yolked , 2 look normal until open

... so much for a sustainable flock of mix cx from her

Be patient. Double-yolkers and elongated eggs may simply be the result of her being an immature layer. I've had many birds start out that way only to become fantastic breeders as they matured.

thanks.. I just worry because I have a BJG that lays mostly double yolks, she will be 2 .. thankfully is no relation
