breeding hy-line chickens?

what would happen if i would breed a hy-line hybrid leghorn pullet to a year older hy-line hybrid rooster would the chicks be ok? Or what would would happen if i would take a hy-line hybird leghorn hen and breed it to a Babcock LEghorn Rooster Is babcock a hybrid? would that worlk?

Kind of depends on what you mean by OK, or would it work. I believe both are hybrid lines. Meaning both are produced by crossing from 2 or more line-bred or inbred lines. All are probably pure Leghorn, just selected exclusively and vigorously for egg production. Sorry for the explanation, if you already knew all that. Your results would almost certainly not be quite as good as the original crosses, but would no doubt still be excellent layers for a back-yard flock. If you are thinking small commercial operation, you would be better off in the long run to procure pullets of the original hybrids.
