Breeding issues

Is game bird feed all year 'round okay? Or should it just be whining I am breeding?

I tried to ask my local feed store yesterday, when I was there, to get breeder ration and he suggested I feed them chick starter because of the protein being 21-22%. :/

Chicks starter will work too. I guess you could feed it all year round, you'll just need to keep an eye on them (excess protein can cause gout). I step mine back in the spring because they have access to greens and bugs at that point.
