So I got an easter egger and my RIR roosters been fertilizing her eggs, and I plan to hatch a few eggs from them because I plant o start my own breeding project ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/les-acajous.1280182/)
And am aiming to keep the blue/green gene present so I'm expecting for the offsprings to lay greenish eggs but how can I keep gene without it becoming too dark from breeding?

I have no experience breeding. That said if you want green eggs you may be better off starting with a pure blue egg layer. Your EE (I think) has one blue egg gene and one brown, that is what gives green. If you breed her to a brown layer you'll end up with a lot of brown laying hens but I don't know the percentage off the top of my head. You will not know what color egg they have until they start to lay. Even if you cross an EExEE you will end up with both brown and green layers.

Had to run earlier so and wanted to add. Adding a white egg layer will not lighten the green egg. It will give a blue layer/light blue layer. You need the mix of brown and blue to get green. I've simplified it a lot, egg color genetics can be confusing.

It says it will not lighten the green egg it will give you a light blue egg which is lightening the green lol

So as I said way above add white to lighten the green lol I’m from Massachusetts so paaaardon my attitude lol
