Breeding/pairing up question

Hi,
I have a breeding question. I have a Silver Pied/Black shoulder male and a choice of three hens to put him with.
The hens are:
Midnightblack shoulder
Blue Pied
Blue hen, one white flight feather, no throat patch.
What chicks are possible with each hen?
Any chance of silverpied chicks?

Personally i would put all three hens with hen being he can breed with 4-5 hens. Chances are you'll get a few silver pieds if your lucky. My # 1 choice would be breeding him with the midnight blackshoulder that way you might get more silver pied blackshoulders. hope this helps. andy

This is what you will get out of the hens breed to the silver pied male split BS

Midnight blackshoulder hen
blue chicks split blackshoulder and blackshoulder chicks all chicks will be split midnight and silver pied some will be showing the white-eye gene.

Blue pied hen and blue hen with white flights.
white, pied and dark pied some will be white-eye some will be split to blackshoulder all chicks will carry the silver pied gene

No silver pied chicks in these breeding. In order to get silver pied chick both parent has to carry a pied and white-eye gene you will need a silver pied hen or a pied white-eye hen to produce silver pied chicks

What Diug said, with one more addition: for the hen with the single white feather, you may be able to find out if she's split white or a dark pied(pure pied). If she throws pieds but no whites, she probably either split pied or dark pied. If you get *any* white chicks out of her, then she is proven split white.

I would be very interested in your results if the pied hen is regular pied, not white eyed pied. IF she really is white eyed pied, then your chances of silver pied are best with her. The blue hen with white feather is a possible candidate too if she's white eyed and had silver pied breeding in her.

The blue hen has a small chance of having white but no white-eyed. The place I got her from has about 50 peafowl running loose on the property. He has never bought a bird, years ago he had one male show up with a white wing feather or two and then a year or so latter a couple of hens showed up. From there all the others. There was one white hen with a pied chick runing in the flock.
As for the Pied hen the breeder has silver pied, pied and white breeders. He put all the young Blue pieds together, but had no bands or markings on the young birds, so who knows?
It looks like I will be getting a young Silver Pied/ BS hen and a 2 year old white spalding hen soon.
