Breeding pairs?

ok so i want to get some quail but i want to raise my own while still having eggs would getting a breeding pair be ok? or should i just start out with the chicks and wait?

For a "pair" it depends on the species of quail. With Coturnix I would suggest a harem of hens and 1 or 2 cocks. The cocks can over-breed the hens, so you need to be sure they spread the love. 1 cock to 3 hens at least I would say.
I believe bob whites breed in pairs. So you could go that route with them. However, from what I understand they either need a large aviary or individual breeding cages/pens for each pair as they can be territorial. I only keep Coturnix though, so it would serve you well to confirm info on bob whites with somebody who raises and breeds them.
