omg just made french toast with duck eggs, it was soo good. Question though we found these dark specs on top of some of the yolks. What is it

probably just a blood spot, not fertile, and not a big deal.

PS: we've always just eaten them too.

PSS: I was told that meant they were fertilized and that the baby chick had begun to develop.

the test eggs will be placed inside in a couple more hours

the near zero outside temp has not helped much with egg production at my place in new hampshire

however i was able to get 3 buff orpington & 2 english orpington eggs to set

hatch on folks

I have a roo that is too young yet- I keep testing the eggs- just put in a test batch too- and it is cold here aswell

Right now I am trying to stock up on Faverolle eggs, but I want at least five eggs before I start hatching. Common Faverolles lay some fertile hatching eggs.

I don't think it matters how big it is. If it was a super duper fresh egg maybe it wouldn't be real big.
