Candled eggs in pitch dark and I I saw was black no light could shine through. Another surprise, I think the other silkie went broody, pecking my hand at full force, and she had no eggs, I'll let her figure it out this time.

What breed of eggs are you candling?

Two broodies??? I'd get eggs under her ASAP! But that's just me.
Will she figure it out?

All our eggs are mutts except Sunny's but we put all the chickens together, because its gonna be 1 degree tonight. I dont know anyhow for the broody i want her to hatch a lil silkie phoniex cross.

Oh, I was wondering about the color of the shell. The darker shells are much harder to candle. Even fairly light brown Comet eggs with thick shells (like mine) are very difficult.

Oh, well, I hope you're able to get some of those under her. =)

she figured it out one mystery brown egg, and one of her own, she is very agressive.

Oh, I've just been posting my plans as I go along. =)

I want to set eggs next month- easy eggs to see through and none with porous shells.

I'm going to set eggs next month too. I might start some this month, but I'm definitely setting some in Feb.

I went on a road trip- 2 1/2 hrs from my house there is a petting zoo, I stopped and asked about their chickens- he didn't know what breeds he had. I said got fertile eggs? he said yes- and I could have any there- but he didn't know if he had any- so I got one large mystery egg now I have to round up a few more....
