Duckwing is a color pattern and gene locus if you want to make things really confusing, lol. It's found it BBRed, Golden Duckwing, Silver Duckwing, Red Pyle, and the fawn, blue, and dun variations of all those colors. Basically, males have clean breasts, a colored wing bar, colored hackles and saddles, and frosting on the secondaries. Females are stippled brown or gray (white only with pyle) with a colored breast and golden/silver head.

My little project is not one of a purebreed nature; I'm after those dark olive green eggs! I have a light olive egger (wheaten penedesenca x blue ameraucana). She's really pretty, looks like a blue ameraucana with very nice lacing, but has a penedesenca tail - straight up in the air! I love her eggs so much, I decided to try to make a darker olive green color, so I put one of my French Copper Black Marans over a "silver colored" EE pullet that lays lovely blue eggs. I put 4 eggs in and all 4 hatched...the interesting thing is that it looks as if I have 2 sets of twins. Two are dark gray with a black head, the other 2 look like purebred French copper black marans - black with yellow throats/bellies. Wouldn't it ROCK if they were sex linked? Way too soon to tell, but I'm just hoping for at least one pullet!
