We have two males in our flock of mix ducks. One male is a Cayuga and I also have a female Cayuga in the flock. I would like to separate both of them in early summer to breed. I know my other male, a Swedish Blue, will have had his way with my female Cayuga before I separate her with the male Cayuga. My question: at what point can I safely say the eggs she lays are fertilized by the male Cayuga and not from my male Swedish Blue ?

Homesteaders recommend to wait at least 2-3 weeks. At that point, you can almost be sure of who the father is (If the have been separated for that entire period).

Good luck, and keep us 'dated.
