Breeding Question

What coloration/varity will I get with crossing:

Light Brahma Roo over New Hampshire Red hens?
Light Brahma Roo over Black Sex Link hens?

What color will the chicks be?

what markings?

I think the sex link crosses will just be black, but the NHR crosses will be sex linked, with the male a yellowy columbian and the female a white colombian with dun tips.

But, my results are from the Chicken Calculator.

I was told that the Light Brahma Roo over my Barred Rock hens would give me the Columbian Rock.

1st - breed the BR hens to the LB roo. You will get BLACK hens and Black BARRED roos. Keep the BLACK hens as they will be carrying the Columbian gene

2nd - breed the black hens from breeding #1 above back to the LB roo. You will get a hodge-podge of colors from this, several of which will be TRUE Columbians. ID the best Columbian Hens and Columbian Roos. (I would discard everything else to keep things simple)

3rd - breed the Columbian roo and hens together. At this stage you should have pure Columbian Rocks as offspring.

In all of this you will want to cull for:
FEATHERED LEGS (to breed out that gene)
Pea combs (keep only birds with single combs)


I will Post Pics of these babies as they were born March 5 & 6. out of the 23 eggs that went into Lockdown 19 hatched! So I am having trouble telling who is who, I was not present when they all came out of the egg (so even marking the eggs I knew didn't help much).

I am unsure as to which is which.

I gathered 1 days eggs from my Flock

1 Light Brahma Roo
this is his harem:

1 Easter Egger (none of her eggs were in this hatch) She lays green.
2 New Hampshire Red
3 Light Brahma
5 Barred Rocks
22 Black Sex Link
