Breeding the partridge color?

You can use them, but it can ruin a line of birds fast. Bunny tails are not desirable so breeding away from the bunny tails are your best bet.

Thanks, is it more worthwhile to just not use a bird with a bunny tail or to start out with one with better shape?

Given the choice of bunny tail or nothing, I'd go with the improper tail, and breed away from it. Sometimes you don't have a choice. The goal would be to stay within the breed and variety if at all possible. In the case of Partridge Wyandottes, there are lines out there with proper type. I echo NYREDS on the double mating information. While you can produce both males and females that meet the standard description using a single mating system, the numbers are much fewer compared to using a double mating system.

Always start with the best shape/type that you can find.

Does anyone know much about Bruce Sherman's Partridge birds? What about any other good breeders?
