I have some Black Copper Marans eggs ordered.

I am going to try something, just for fun. I have a nice Welsummer roo--I want to hatch out some Welsummer eggs. I think I will put a few of my RIR hens in with him and see what a cross is like.

Yeah, I too am going for a whole "rainbow" of eggs to sell (chocolate, terra cotta, brown, pink, white, green, aquamarine, blue, olive green, black) too, and I guess it just requires a little TLC. I don't often see a perfect Marans egg sitting around, without a single scratch on it, but I know that when mine come along I'll be collecting them enough that the next hen who comes along won't ruin the the egg. Plus, I want to keep track of who lays what eggs.
