I was admiring my hen with chicks today, when I noticed that she has black legs, (no biggie), and 5 toes per foot!! I was told that she was supposed to be Egyptian? She looks too big in the body to be Egyptian. As far as the markings go, tho, she does look like one. Are they supposed to have 5 toes? If so, does this mean she is purebred? Or is it possible for her to just have 5 toes?

I am reading a breeding chart here, and it says that Dorking, Favorelles, Houdan, silkie, & sultan have 5 toes. It may have been a very rare breed that we have not heard of, or just a silkie mix.

The five toes on my silkies are really neat, but my question would be, where in the world did the chinese come up with the black skin????

If I can get a good pic of her, I will post it. She doesn't look like any of those! She is clean legged, a little bigger than my dutch bantam roo, black with a silver 'necklace',...with black legs and 5 toes per foot!!! Maybe the dorking, but I don't think she is big enough.
